Attitude:
Your work ethic in this course must reflect that you are devoting serious energy toward performances that are done at the highest level of quality. All work produced in this class should represent your best effort. Neatness, organization, clarity, creativity, insight, detail, and completeness will be a natural and necessary part of all work you submit. You will become an independent learner and a team player. You must show initiative, self-direction, and planning in all that you do.

Expectations:
I have one rule… No one has the right to interfere with my right to teach or your right to learn. This one simple rule applies to everything that we do in class; use the following as guidelines to achieve success in the classroom.

RESPECT:
SELF – potentials…give yourself credit
OTHERS – rights, ideas, property
TEACHER – listen and follow directions

RESPONSIBILITY:
You earn your grade
Complete activities and projects on time
Work at learning
Come to class prepared
Contribute to class discussions

REALITY:
Consequences will take place when RESPECT or RESPONSIBILITY issues are ignored or not followed.

Grades:
Grades will be based on the percentage of the points earned during entire grading period (1 semester)
A = 90-100%
B = 89-80%
C = 79-65%
D = 69-55%

Tests & Major Assignments 30%

The Work:
1. You will understand that Homework is a vital part of this course. I expect you to record all assignments given, maintain a record of points earned on completed assignments, complete short and long term assignments on time, and take personal responsibility for obtaining and completing any make-up work.
2. You will write a number of Opinion Papers during the semester.
3. You will complete a variety of in-class activities and quizzes.
4. You will participate in several group activities.
5. You will complete comprehensive projects, which demonstrate your ability to analyze and evaluate complex legal issues.

Make-Up Policy After Absences:
It is the student’s responsibility to find out what was missed and to plan to make it up. To make up missed work, arrange a time to meet with me to complete the needed assignments. You will be expected to make up missed work or tests within a number of days equal to the number of days missed. Any assignment, quiz, or test missed due to an unexcused absence will be marked a “0”.

Late Work Policy:
All assignments are due at the beginning of the period on the specified date. Any assignment turned in late will receive a maximum of only 50%.

Cheating:
Cheating will not be tolerated. Cheating on any exam, quiz, or assignment will result in a “0”. There will be no opportunity to make this up. See the parent handbook for more information.
